I first heard this song on the TV telecast of Victoria’s Secrets Fashion Show 2012 and now, ‘I’m addicted and I don’t know why’. I have never been a huge fan of Bruno Mars — I’ve only liked his ‘Just the way you are’ and ‘Marry You’ and ‘Grenade’ songs because she first introduced them to me — so I’m surprised by how particularly mesmerised I am by this latest song’s chorus and the composition of the melody, even though I don’t think the lyrics make any sense. Actually, none of them ever do.
All you young wild girls
You make a mess of me
Yeah, you young wild girls
You’ll be the death of me, the death of me
All you young wild girls
No matter what you do
Yeah, you young wild girls
I’ll always come back to you, come back to you…
The slow ballad is so enchanting that I keep replaying the YouTube video. And seeing incredibly hot models strutting around in skimpy lingerie is the delightful cherry on the icing. Now I can’t stop daydreaming about these beautiful women whose bodies are so out-of-this-world — so svelte and lithe — that I wish I was a hard 10/10 on the scale of good looks. If only!
Also, I still can’t believe it’s 2013. I’m still having difficulty writing/typing 2013 on my word documents. And I have no New Year resolutions to speak of. Maybe to get myself a hot supermodel? Hehe!

I clicked on this gorgeous pic of Kate Moss only because I saw “Johnny Depp” in the headline and I was curious to find out more. Both of them dated and had a torrid affair in the early 90s (I can’t be bothered to fact check. You can do it yourself). And it is always very satisfying to read gossip about celebrities.
Moss posed for photographer Tim Walker in a pictorial spread at the glamorous Ritz Paris for Vogue’s April issue and in the interview, she revealed her favourite memories at the storied hotel, which were hilarious.
- On staying at the Ritz with her ex-boyfriend: “When I was with Johnny Depp, he always stayed there. I had an apartment in Paris at the time, but he said, ‘No, we’re staying at the Ritz,’ so he came by and swept me up to the Ritz – he didn’t want to slum it in my apartment!”
- On walking in Versace’s show: “Gianni’s shows were amazing – and sooo convenient. Walk downstairs, go to work: Love that!”
- On her favourite cocktail: “I drink the French 76: vodka, sugar, lemon juice topped up with champagne; it’s the best drink ever, but it only tastes like that in the Hemingway Bar. Colin [Field, Ritz Paris head bartender] made it for my wedding. It doesn’t taste at all strong – and then, whoa, whoops-a-daisy!”
Oh, the rest of the article is a very nice read as well. It was an lovely insight into the glamorous world of fashion shows and haute couture, and of course, a little history of Paris and the Ritz in the old days.
Another hilarious incident by André Leon Talley:
“My best fashion moment was in 1996, when Karl took over the entire first-floor Imperial Suite for his couture show, to observe the twenty-fifth anniversary of Mademoiselle Coco’s death. He had two shows that brisk January day, and between them Naomi Campbell, Shalom Harlow, and Kate Moss came to my room—a simple one with two armchairs and the bed in a neoclassical alcove—and took naps. Karl and I walked in to find them all lined up asleep under layers of fine piqué sheets, like fairy princesses, false eyelashes still in place.”
I’m thinking this could be my next long-term wallet. After more than six months of living without a proper wallet, I came across this picture while surfing the Internet and I like it because it is the closest I can find that resembles my previous (and sorely missed) black leather JPG wallet.
Well, I could still use the nylon airline Givenchy pouch which I have been fully utilising the past six months… After all, it’s roomy, durable and I can fit almost everything inside it. It’s so much more than what other standard wallet could give me. Plus, I am not affected by any weird looks people might give me for carrying a pouch. Then again, she’d have something to say about that.
So luxury Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons has a series of new style wallets that are made from bold, hand-dyed cow and goat hide leathers.
Maybe, just maybe this can be my new everyday essential.

The colour of your next bikini
You probably heard it here last but in case, you were in some alternate universe where Pantone is just some random sounds made together to mean the end of a meal, you’re in luck. The world’s authority on colour and provider of colour to fashion and design houses plus many other industries, Pantone has declared Pantone 15-5519 or its much more famous namesake Turquoise colour of year 2010.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®, explains more on why turquoise was chosen. “It is believed to be a protective talisman, a color of deep compassion and healing, and a color of faith and truth, inspired by water and sky.”
Interesting. I’m loving the new colour, especially since it’s the designated colour for my horoscope. Oh it’s Sagittarius, since you asked. But here’s the ultimate clincher for me.
Combining the serene qualities of blue and the invigorating aspects of green, Turquoise evokes thoughts of soothing, tropical waters and a languorous, effective escape from the everyday troubles of the world, while at the same time restoring our sense of wellbeing.
If Pantone’s colour for 2009 Mimosa Yellow was chosen to send a “hopeful optimistic message” to the public, year 2010 would be the year we get to start fantasising about turning lobster red on sandy beaches.
Cocktails, anyone? I’d even add a tiny umbrella in your drink, if you ask nicely.
So said costumier Christian Lacroix who drew his inspiration from Philippe de Champaigne’s and Poussin’s paintings when tasked to design costumes for dramatic Greek tragedy Phèdre.
When wikipedia describes Phèdre‘s tragic construction, deeply observed characters and the richness of the verse as “masterly” and French philosopher Voltaire calling it “the masterpiece of the human mind”, you know it’s gonna blow your mind.
Here’s a little preview of the opera’s background:

In other news, I just attended my first kickboxing class today. Considering that I’m a proud exercise-free advocate, this IS a big deal for me. My arms are numb and getting myself around to meetings tomorrow would be a challenge.
You know a hairstylist is good when he spends 3 ½ hours making love to your hair. I only wanted a haircut by the way.
But the end results are promising indeed, even though I felt a tad awkward walking down the streets yesterday. The cut is real sharp, starting at the left side of my ear slanting down towards the back and tailing off to the right side like a tick sign. Which means, I have an asymmetrical hairstyle. Let’s put it this way, if you look at me from the left, I look like your typical handsome English pageboy. From the right profile, I look like a bloody hot girl. Drop me a line if androgyny floats your boat. Hahaha!
Well, the verdict’s out with a total of seven compliments. I totally rock this new cut. It was three and a half hours well spent, I have to admit. My mate said it best among all. After checking out my new haircut, my mate says, “Nice, now you can go attract some sweet young things.” ROFL!
As I turned right going towards the direction of the cinema, the lovely sis stopped me. “Hey, that’s the wrong way.”
“You should be turning left.”
“Why? That’s the way to the market.”
“Yes and you are dressed for it.”
I’d have showed that smart mouth some knuckle popcorn if not for the miserable fact that we are related and I am really a non-violent sort when it comes to facing someone my own size.
